What is Transactional Analysis?
Transactional Analysis is a field of psychology developed by Dr. Eric Berne in the 1950’s. Originally trained in psychoanalysis, Berne wanted a theory which could be understood and available to everyone. TA is a theory of what makes people “tick”, the ways that they interact with one another and offers ways to improve communication. Its theory outlines how we have developed, how we treat ourselves, how we relate and communicate with others, and offers suggestions and interventions which will enable us to change and grow. TA is underpinned by the philosophy that:

Improving Relationships
We tend to take our communication for granted, and yet it underlies almost everything we do. As you’ll know, good communication can make a dramatic impact on getting the right things done well, while you’ve probably experienced the damage to morale, effectiveness and delivery that poor communication, miscommunication, or even no communication can have.
