What is Transactional Analysis?

Transactional Analysis is a social psychology, a theory of human personality and a systematic approach for growth and personal change of individuals, groups and organizations. It promotes and improves communication, thereby enhancing relationships.

Since its development in the 1950's, TA theory has developed and changed and is currently used worldwide in a range of organizations, both large and small.

These pages are intended to offer basic introductory information about some of the concepts developed within Transactional Analysis.

We hope that this introduction will stimulate your interest. You may be interested in undertaking TA training. To become Certified as a qualified Transactional Analyst takes around four years, and to become a trainer of Transactional Analysts takes an average of a further five years.

However, these concepts can be, and are used on an everyday basis for personal and professional development.

We would recommend undertaking the Official Introductory Course in Transactional Analysis - the "TA 101" - a course that we run at Mountain Associates.
